Taming the Void

Voidy is a 12 year old feral cat left behind by her previous owner. I successfully trapped her, took her to the vet, got all her vaccines and blood worked cleared, and brought her home around November 21, 2021.

Since then, she’s been in my “office.” We’ve made some progress. At first, she wouldn’t come out of her “house.” Then I put flea medicine on her, and she moved out of one house into her second house. Then I put flea medicine on her again, and she moved out of her second house, to under the dresser.

Since then, she’s moved back into her second house a few times, and now she’s mostly hanging out in the back corner of the room.

I’ve consulted a feral cat expert. He’s written out instructions on how to “tame” her. So far, I’ve let her free feed on dry crunchies any time, and I bring in wet food in the morning and at night. Right now I’ve slowly stopped bringing in her wet food, and the past two days she’s eaten her free range dry crunchies down.

Today, I’m starting the process. I put a pea sized spoon of fancy feast in her room at 1:18. She ate it at 1:24. 6 minutes between when I put the food in the bowl and when she ate it.

So I put a new pea sized dollop in the bowl at 1:24. She ate it at 1:28. 4 mintues.

And now there’s a new dollop of food in there for her. I’m also using fancy feast, which is the crackiest of the crack food for kitties. Baby girl is out here scarfing as much as she can while I wait to add another pea sized dollop.
